Pricing plays an important role in whether an international buyer converts, or is given a full localized experience. When a price is localized it doesn’t always reflect that of the original value. For example, a product valued at £9.99 that is localized into euro would be priced at €10.81.
To fix this, we have developed our price rounding feature to enable you to tailor your prices, rounding down or up, and offer international prices reflective of your domestic store to meet your pricing strategy.
The prices will be rounded;
a) on the whole store (all products)
b) by request - per currency (e.g. different rule for EUR and USD)
If you are one of our Pro Plan merchants, you have the option to have this set up in several different ways, details below.
Please let your dedicated Account Manager know if and how you would like to proceed.
-
How many decimals would you like the prices to be displayed with?
We can show the prices with as many digits after a decimal, as you require.
Starting from rounding to a full price up to showing as many places after a decimal point, as needed, you choose how your buyers see the converted prices.
-
Should the prices follow an incremental pattern?
The prices can be rounded in an incremental fashion.
If, as shown in the example below, you choose an increment of 0.25, the final converted price will end in 0.25, 0.50 or 0.75 or 1.00, depending on which of these will be the closest to the value of the original converted cost.
-
How would you like the prices to end?
Regardless of what the actual converted price ends with after the decimal point, we can force it to end with whatever you request.
If this option is chosen, the prices will be rounded up or down to the set value always.
Below you can see how the prices on the international sites would behave with the ever so popular 0.99 ending. The same logic applies however if you decide you would like them to end in 0.5, 0.95 etc.
-
How would you like the prices to be rounded towards?
The prices can be forced to always round:
a) Up - regardless of what the actual converted price is, it will always be rounded up to the next full or previously set value.
b) Down - regardless of what the actual converted price is, it will always be rounded down to the next full or previously set value.
c) To nearest -
How strict would you like the rounding rules to be enforced?
You have a choice with regards to how strictly you would like to have the applied rules be implemented.
The options are -
a) always force the applied settings
b) stop at the next integer
Examples:
- The converted price is 11.234
It's supposed to be rounded down and end with 0.95. The ending is to be forced, so no other endings than 0.95 are possible. Two digits after the decimal point are to be shown.
In this configuration the price displayed on the translated site will be 10.95 (rounded down from 11 to 10 and ending with 0.95).
- The converted price is 11.234
It's supposed to be rounded up in 0.25 increments.
In this configuration the price displayed on the translated site will be 11.25.
- The converted price is 11.234
It's supposed to be rounded up to a whole number, no digits after a decimal point are to be shown.
In this configuration the price displayed on the translated site will be 12.
As you can see from the examples shown above, these settings can be combined and applied in different configurations.
Please consult your dedicated Account Manager if you have an idea how your prices should be shown on the translated sites and you will be advised on how this can be set up.
