If your domestic primary URL operates on a bare top level domain, meaning it does not have a www prefix e.g. example.com, you cannot use localized subdomains to run your Google Shopping campaigns.
While we can point your international proxy sites to these subdomains, the issue arises when setting up your international Google Shopping campaigns.
If your primary URL operates on a bare top level domain, it will likely be claimed in your Merchant Center without the www prefix. Therefore we will not be able to claim a subdomain e.g. fr.example.com.
You can check exactly which domain is claimed in your Merchant Center by the following steps. Go to your Merchant Center -> Navigate to Tools/Settings -> Business Information -> Website. From here, you will see how your domain is claimed.
If you cannot use your existing domestic domain, you do have other options:
- Provide Glopal with another domain you already own, or purchase a new domain.
- Use top level domains for top performing stores e.g. example.co.uk.
- Launch with the default Glopal domains, however custom is recommended.
- It is possible to add the www prefix back into your URL, by making this your primary domain. However these steps need to be completed on your side. Please let your Account Manager know if this is the case.
